Independence day 2020 celebration

Independence day 2020 celebration in Corona pandemic.

On August 15, 1947, we Indians have achieved independence from the British after years of struggle. On this day, British Raj was stopped and achieved full independence from the British Raj. The day holds great significance in the heart of every Indian citizen living in India and abroad.

On August 15, 2020, is 73 years of freedom. India became an Independent nation in 15th August 1947, India completed one year of independence on 15th August 1948, In 2020 15th August, India completed 73 years as an Independent, if we exclude 1947 and start count from 1948 then this year 202o is 73 years of Independent day nation celebrating.

However including 15th August 1947 if we calculate then it 74 years we are celebrating Independence day in 2020. So, this year marked the 74th Independence Day of the country.

While it is a celebratory annual occasion and a national holiday, wherein people hoist the national flag, wear colors signifying the tricolor, take part in many games and cultural programs, it also coincides with the Partition of the country that brings back painful memories, given that India was severed on communal grounds, much to the disappointment of many national leaders and ordinary citizens.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was and will always remain one of the brightest shining stars of India's independence movement. We can not forget him and especially as a Bengali I can say Netaji is in our blood.

When Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Nehru advocated for peaceful means of protests, Bose, commonly known as Netaji took steps out in his own and went ahead with an aggressive push for free India, even setting up a government in exile.

On 29th December 1943, Netaji accompanied by Sarvashri Anand Mohan Sahay, Captain Rawat - ADC, and Col. DS Raju, the personal physician of Netaji landed at the Port Blair aerodrome in the Andamans.

In the year 1943, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose hoisted the National Flag for the first time at the Gymkhana Ground (present Netaji Stadium) in Port Blair. This Islands was the first Indian Territory freed from British rule, announced by Netaji.

On 15 August 1947, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, hoisted the national flag at the Lahori Gate of Red Fort in New Delhi. The Father of the Nation Gandhiji fasted in Calcutta (now Kolkata). He believed to spent his time praying, fasting, and silently protesting the religious hatred that had taken over the country.
